The NCN6001DTBR2G is a Smart Card Interface integrated circuit. The device handles any type of smart card through a simple and flexible microcontroller interface. On top of that, thanks to the built-in chip select pin, several couplers can be connected in parallel. The device is particularly suited for low cost, low power applications, with high extended battery life coming from extremely low quiescent current. The card is detected by the external switch connected pin 18. The internal circuit provides a positive bias of this pin and the polarity of the insertion/extraction is programmable by the MOSI protocol. The bias current is 1A typical and care must be observed to avoid leakage to ground from this pin to maintain the logic function. In particular, using a low impedance probe (<1M) may lead to uncontrolled operation during the debug. Depending upon the programmed condition, the card can be detected either by a normally open or a normally close switch.
