Use the LDO LM1086ISX-5.0/NOPB linear regulator from Texas Instruments to maintain a constant output voltage. Its typical dropout voltage at current is 1.3@1.5A V. This voltage regulation device"s single output can produce a current up to 1.5 A. It only needs a voltage of at least 2.6 V while not exceeding 30 V to effectively power your circuit. With a fixed output that has a voltage of 5 V, this is power management at its best. At a load regulation of 0.1%(Typ) and line regulation of 10mV a constant current can be produced at the output of your circuit.
