The DS3231MZ+ is a ±5ppm, temperature compensated I2C real time clock (RTC) in 8 pin NSOIC package. The low cost, extremely accurate, fast (400KHz) I2C RTC device incorporates a battery input and maintains accurate timekeeping when main power to device is interrupted. The integration of MEMS resonator enhances long term accuracy and reduces piece part count in manufacturing line. The RTC maintains seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month and year information. The date at the end of the month is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days including corrections for leap year compensation up to year 2100. The clock operates in either 24hour or 12hour format with an AM/PM indicator. A precision temperature compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit monitors status of VCC to detect power failures to provide reset output and to automatically switch to backup supply when necessary. The RST pin is monitored as a pushbutton input for generating a microprocessor reset.
