The ATEVK1010A is an evaluation kit and demonstration board for the Atmel AT42QT1010 controller. AT42QT1010 is a digital burst mode, charge-transfer (QT) sensor capable of detecting near-proximity or touch. It features a "max on" setting which allows the key to re-calibrate to detect subsequent touches when faced with an obstruction for a prolonged period of time. The sensor projects a touch or proximity field to several centimetres through any dielectric including glass, plastic, stone, ceramic, and even most kinds of wood. It can turn small metal bearing objects into intrinsic sensors, making them responsive to proximity or touch. It is designed specifically for human interfaces and includes all hardware and signal processing functions necessary to provide stable sensing under a wide variety of changing conditions. Only a single low cost capacitor is required for operation.
● Single button or proximity sensor
● Prolonged touch timeout after 60 seconds
● Drift compensation algorithms constantly adjust the reference level
● The devices modulate their frequency whilst measurements are taken
● All the devices have a range of power modes depending on the response time required
● The sensitivity of a capacitive button can be set to work with a wide range of panel thicknesses
● The device will automatically calibrate on power up
● ICs include signal processing which helps to suppress detections caused by electrical noise
